Scotland used to have an enviable reputation but the current system fails to get enough young people into skills-based education, resulting in a critical shortage of skills in key areas and graduates having to go into the service sector.

The New Party will introduce specialist skills academies for post-14 education and restructure funding to provide further and higher education scholarships where they are most needed. We will also establish local ‘Skill Exchanges’ where young people can tap into the skills and experience of the many people who have been made redundant or taken early retirement.
